Watch Ho & Co. and Selten Celebrate Dim Sum Culture with Exclusive Timepiece
Independent watch brand Selten and watch community platform Watch Ho & Co. have collaborated to create a unique timepiece inspired by traditional Hong Kong dim sum culture.
## A Tribute to Dim Sum Culture Independent watch brand Selten has teamed up with watch community platform Watch Ho & Co. to introduce a deeply personal *métiers d’art* timepiece: the Yum Cha edition. This release marks Watch Ho & Co.’s third anniversary and translates founder Jackie Ho’s cherished childhood memories of visiting traditional Hong Kong tea houses with his grandparents into horology. The collaboration centers on the warmth, family rituals, and rich culinary heritage of dim sum culture, rather than conventional design cues from motorsport or military tropes. This approach allows the timepiece to capture the essence of traditional Hong Kong tea houses and the memories associated with them. ## A Masterpiece of Enamel Dial Craftsmanship The highlight of the timepiece is its hand-engraved, fine-silver Grand Feu enamel dial, designed to mirror the intricate weave of a traditional bamboo steamer basket. Crafted under a microscope by Selten’s in-house master engraver and enamelist, Master Qin, each dial requires 16.5 hours of painstaking labor, involving roughly 3,500 individual hand cuts and multiple high-temperature firings. The dial is finished in a rich honey-gold to amber fumé gradient, recalling the warm patina acquired by wooden steamers after decades of use. It is framed by custom diamond-cut hands shaped like tea leaves, adding to the timepiece’s unique character. ## A Timeless Movement and Elegant Design Housed in a 38mm stainless steel case measuring 9.95mm thick with a prominent top-hat sapphire crystal, the watch is powered by the manual-wind Sellita SW210-2 M Power+ movement. This movement offers a 65-hour power reserve and is regulated to within ±6 seconds per day. The aesthetic theme continues onto the solid engraved caseback depicting a sentimental family meal, as well as its presentation packaging. The packaging includes a genuine handcrafted bamboo steamer, bamboo coasters, and a warranty card styled like a classic Hong Kong dim sum order sheet. Capped at just 100 pieces globally, the Watch Ho & Co. x Selten Yum Cha Edition retails for $4,950 USD. For more information, visit Selten’s dedicated webpage for the timepiece via its website.
