Seiko Teams with TRADMAN’S BONSAI for a Limited-Edition Presage Featuring Pine-Bark Inspired Dial

Seiko has joined forces with the creative studio TRADMAN’S BONSAI to produce a limited-run Presage Classic Series model that draws directly from Japanese horticultural motifs. The collaboration results in a watch that blends traditional symbolism with modern watchmaking techniques, targeting collectors who value both aesthetic nuance and mechanical reliability. ## Design inspiration and dial treatment The piece takes its visual cue from the classic crescent-shaped bonsai pot, often referred to as a “moon” vessel, which represents balance and harmony in bonsai culture. The dial is finished in a deep green hue known as Matsuba-Iro, a colour historically linked to pine needles and associated with longevity and resilience. To evoke the tactile feel of weathered pine bark, Seiko developed a new embossing process that creates a subtle, raised pattern across the entire face. This textured surface sits beneath a dual-curved sapphire crystal, allowing the hands to glide over a dial that mimics the look of bark illuminated by moonlight. ## Case, bracelet and additional strap details The watch is encased in a gold-tone plated body that complements the earthy green of the dial. A matching bracelet, also finished in the same gold tone, provides a cohesive aesthetic. For those who prefer a more natural feel, an extra strap is offered, featuring a traditional three-pronged pine motif embossed into the material, reinforcing the connection to the natural world. ## Movement and technical specifications At its core, the timepiece houses Seiko’s in-house 6R51 automatic calibre. The movement delivers a daily accuracy range of +25 to -15 seconds and supplies roughly three days of power reserve when fully wound. These specifications align with Seiko’s reputation for dependable performance in its mid-range automatic offerings. ## Availability and pricing The collaboration is limited to 2,000 units, each priced at £1,250 (approximately $1,688). Interested buyers can place pre-orders through the official Seiko Boutique website, with the first shipments slated to begin in September 2026. The limited nature of the run, combined with the unique dial texture and the partnership with TRADMAN’S BONSAI, positions the watch as a collectible item for enthusiasts of Japanese design and horology. Overall, the Seiko Presage Classic Series x TRADMAN’S BONSAI edition showcases how a watch can serve as a canvas for cultural storytelling, merging the serenity of bonsai tradition with the precision of modern watch engineering.
