Seiko's Passionately Crafted Watches Exhibition Comes to London

Seiko's 'Passionately and Obsessively Crafted Watches' exhibition is set to arrive at Japan House in London this summer, showcasing the brand's innovative approach to watchmaking and craftsmanship. The exhibition marks the third consecutive year Seiko has showcased its Power Design Project outside Japan, offering visitors a rare glimpse into the creative process behind one of the world's most respected watchmakers. The exhibition highlights seven conceptual timepieces, each expressing a different designer's unique perspective on specific physical elements. These designs demonstrate Seiko's philosophy of innovation and craftsmanship, while celebrating Japanese culture in a global setting. The exhibition's focus on core watch components, such as dial textures, indices, and case architecture, allows visitors to explore the intricate details that make each timepiece truly special. One of the standout designs is Takuya Matsumoto's "Dial Texture," which uses high-precision metal stamping to render intricate geometric patterns inspired by Spain's Alhambra Palace. Another notable design is Naoya Sukeda's "Machining Marks," which draws inspiration from fine woodworking and deliberately leaves visible tool marks and file textures on a stepped steel case to celebrate the artisan's hand. Design Director Miho Wada's "Bar Indices" transforms standard hour markers into a hypnotic grid across a rectangular face, creating a dense mosaic where polished beams harmonize light. The exhibition also features concepts that redefine watch geometry and typography, such as Yu Ishihara's "Spherical Surface," which seamlessly aligns the curvature of the glass, bezel, case, and crown guard into a single continuous sphere. The exhibition will officially unveil at Japan House on August 27 and will remain on view until September 15, 2026. The event is free to the public, making it an exciting opportunity for watch enthusiasts and design aficionados to experience Seiko's innovative approach to watchmaking and craftsmanship. ## Japan House: A Hub for Japanese Culture in London Located at 101-111 Kensington High St, London W8 5SA, Japan House is a cultural hub that celebrates Japanese art, design, and innovation.
