Mulberry Returns to Runway with Christopher Kane Debut
Mulberry presented its first runway show in six years, unveiling Christopher Kane's debut spring/summer 2027 collection at London Fashion Week.

Mulberry has returned to the London Fashion Week runway after a six-year absence. The spring/summer 2027 collection marks the debut of creative director Christopher Kane, who was appointed to lead women's ready-to-wear in March.
Chief executive Andrea Baldo's strategy, called "Back to the Mulberry Spirit," aims to broaden the brand beyond its core handbags and accessories. The runway presentation is a key part of rebuilding Mulberry's presence in ready-to-wear.
The Kane Collection's Design Codes
Christopher Kane's debut heavily references Mulberry's leather heritage. The brand's signature Bayswater handbag shape has been reinterpreted across dresses, tailoring, and knitwear.
The collection also translates Mulberry's iconic Postman's Lock hardware onto belts and footwear. Kane revisited the brand's Somerset roots, including nods to founder Roger Saul and the mulberry tree that inspired the company name.
Archive details feature prominently. These include a heritage check taken from an original 1980s design and a recreation of a 1990s Mulberry sweatshirt. Kane is developing the line with his sister and long-time collaborator, Tammy Kane.
Strategic Revival and Market Context
Mulberry stopped producing its previous ready-to-wear range in 2020. This followed the end of its licensing agreement with Onward Luxury Group, a pandemic-era cost-cutting measure. The final collection under former creative director Johnny Coca was for autumn/winter 2020.
Andrea Baldo described Kane's appointment as "the next stage of Mulberry’s push to revive its British fashion credentials." The goal is to expand the creative offer beyond accessories. The new collection is positioned as a standalone ready-to-wear and accessories line.
Commercial Backdrop and Industry Reaction
The company's recent financial performance shows growth. For the year to 28 March 2026, Mulberry recorded a 5.7 per cent increase in total sales. UK like-for-like sales rose by 13.7 per cent, with all markets returning to growth in the second half.
British Fashion Council chief executive Laura Weir commented on the brand's return. She said it strengthened London Fashion Week creatively, culturally and commercially. The comeback aligns with a wider push to attract established British fashion houses back to the capital's schedule. The Mulberry by Christopher Kane collection is set to launch in stores and online in January 2027.
