Breitling has added two new 41mm chronograph models to its core Navitimer collection. This marks the brand's first inclusion of historically limited movements into its mainstream offerings. The new models are the Navitimer B09 Chronograph 41 and the Navitimer B02 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute. The hand-wound B09 movement was previously reserved for commemorative editions. The Cosmonaute is the first modern model with this complication to join the core collection after previous limited editions.

Technical Specifications and Movements

Both new Navitimer models share identical case dimensions. They feature 41mm stainless steel cases with a thickness of 13mm and a lug-to-lug length of 47.09mm. Each is powered by a manually wound manufacture movement, the B09 and B02 respectively. Both movements provide approximately 70 hours of power reserve and use column wheel and vertical clutch chronograph controls. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters for both watches.

Heritage Design Elements

The collection draws heavily from 1960s racing and spaceflight heritage. The B09 model draws inspiration from 1960s racing driver models, specifically the reference 806 associated with drivers Jim Clark and Graham Hill. The Cosmonaute recalls Breitling's role in early spaceflight, preserving the 24-hour display originally designed for astronaut Scott Carpenter's 1962 Mercury-Atlas 7 mission. Both models feature the return of the classic gold 'Twin Jet' Breitling logo, which first appeared on Navitimer dials in 1965.

Model Details and Pricing

The two models offer distinct dial configurations and complications. The B09 has no date display and is available with a black or blue dial paired with white sub-dials. The Cosmonaute features a black dial with white counters and includes a date display integrated into the lower sub-dial at 6 o'clock. It is also COSC-certified as a chronometer. The Cosmonaute is offered with a choice of a brown gradient calfskin strap or a seven-row stainless steel bracelet.

Pricing varies by model and strap choice. The Navitimer B09 starts at €7,450 on leather and €7,800 on a steel bracelet. The Navitimer B02 Cosmonaute starts at €10,000 on leather and €10,300 on a bracelet. In U.S. pricing, the B09 starts at $7,900 and the Cosmonaute at $10,600. This strategic shift makes Breitling's heritage storytelling accessible through its core collection.
