Artisans de Genève Crafts 57-Gram 'Feather' Daytona for Eliud Kipchoge
A bespoke, one-of-a-kind Rolex Daytona named 'Feather' has been created for marathoner Eliud Kipchoge by Artisans de Genève, weighing just 57 grams and featuring a transparent sapphire dial.

Artisans de Genève has transformed marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge’s personal Rolex Daytona into a unique 57-gram watch named 'Feather'. This private commission, not a commercial release or an official Rolex collaboration, centers on a transparent sapphire dial and a skeletonized manual movement.
Lightweight Design Philosophy
The entire project was conceived around Kipchoge’s personal 'No Human Is Limited' philosophy, with extreme lightness as the core design brief. The resulting timepiece weighs a mere 57 grams. Its case is crafted from Titalum®, an alloy blending titanium and aluminum, which contributes significantly to the overall featherlight feel that inspired its name.
Transparent and Technical Craftsmanship
Artisans de Genève executed a profound mechanical and aesthetic transformation. The watch features a fully transparent sapphire dial and a sapphire bezel insert, creating a see-through effect. Underneath, the workshop skeletonized the original Rolex Calibre 4130, converting it from an automatic to a manual-winding movement. This movement now shows a nickel-palladium finish with sandblasted treatments and hand-applied decorations. The Swiss workshop operates independently and does not manufacture or sell the donor watch.
Kenyan-Inspired Aesthetics
Design elements pay direct homage to Kipchoge’s heritage. A color palette of red, green, and white references the Kenyan flag and his training grounds in Kaptagat. The chronograph counters are filled with green-emitting Super-LumiNova, while rhodium-plated indices and hands feature sharp red accents. The central chronograph seconds hand is reshaped into a lightning-bolt silhouette, a nod to speed and Kipchoge’s historic sub-two-hour marathon run in Vienna in 2019.
The watch retains Kipchoge’s own black rubber Oysterflex strap with brushed aluminum attachments. This deeply personal customization, which includes the estimated service cost, is detailed below.
