Glashütte Original introduces the Senator Aventurine Art Déco Blue in platinum and Senator Aventurine Art Nouveau Green in red gold. The new models will be available from October 2026 at the brand's boutiques and selected retailers worldwide. This expansion of the Senator Aventurine line presents two minimalist, time-only watches where the artistic dial takes centre stage.

Each watch is housed in a 40 mm case. Both models share identical dimensions.

Design language and dial construction

The watches feature aventurine glass dials inspired by Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles. Aventurine glass originated with the glassmakers of Murano in the 17th century. Metal oxides added to molten glass form the glistening particles responsible for its characteristic sparkle. The random distribution of these inclusions means each dial has its own unique pattern. Glashütte Original applies black lacquer to the reverse of each aventurine dial piece to enhance the visual depth.

The brand links blue to Art Déco's embrace of modernity, geometry and urban life. Green is linked to Art Nouveau's affinity with nature and organic forms. The dials are completely clean, with no indices, date, or central seconds hand. The only inscriptions are 'Glashütte Original' and 'Glashütte i/SA' in glossy white. A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coatings covers the dial.

Case, strap and hand detailing

The cases are crafted from either red gold or platinum and offer 50 metres of splash resistance. The red gold Art Nouveau Green model is paired with a brown Louisiana alligator leather strap, described in one account as nubuck for added texture. It is secured with a red gold pin buckle. This model features curved solid 5N gold hands.

The platinum Art Déco Blue model comes on a dark blue Louisiana alligator leather strap with a platinum pin buckle. Its hands are made from solid white gold. Both watches present a cohesive colour story from case to strap to dial.

Movement and finishing

Powering both watches is the automatic Calibre 36-16. This movement is a variant of the brand's 2016 calibre 36. It provides a substantial 100-hour power reserve and runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour. A key technical feature is its silicon balance spring, which resists magnetic fields and temperature changes.

The finishing is executed to a high standard. The movement is assembled by a single watchmaker. Through the sapphire exhibition caseback, decoration includes Glashütte stripes on the three-quarter plate, a hand-engraved balance cock, and sunburst-finished winding wheels. A skeletonised rotor carries the brand's mirrored-G symbol and incorporates a solid gold oscillating weight. Pulling the crown activates a second-stop mechanism for precise time setting, despite the absence of a running seconds hand. Both of these new Senator Aventurine watches belong to Glashütte Original's Atelier commissions, where each timepiece is assembled entirely by one watchmaker.
