Lebond Norman Foster Watch Merges Architecture With Wearable Design
Lebond unveils the Norman Foster watch, a €3,500 titanium timepiece with an integrated, lugless case-and-strap system designed for modular customization and everyday comfort.

The Lebond Norman Foster watch reimagines traditional watchmaking by eliminating conventional lugs for a continuous case-and-strap profile inspired by Foster's architectural principles. The timepiece features a 38.5mm Grade 5 titanium case that widens to 40mm where it meets the integrated strap, with a 10mm profile and 50m water resistance. Created for the architect's 90th birthday, this collaboration allows users to customize the watch by swapping cases and straps, with more versions planned for release.
Foster eschewed the conventional lugs found on most watch cases, instead creating a continuous form where the strap flows directly from the case. The design process was described by Foster as 'very similar to architecture,' involving refinement, sketches, and prototypes. The result is a watch engineered for lightness and flexibility, featuring a domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating and a slender titanium folding clasp.
Design Details and Materials
The watch is offered in two distinct editions, differing primarily in their materials and finishes. Both models share the same core architecture and interchangeable integrated strap system.
The dial is deliberately restrained, featuring a date window at 3 o’clock with a matching date disk and a minute track along the rehaut. All three hands are coated with Super-LumiNova for legibility in low light. A key functional feature is the bidirectional bezel, which displays a second time zone and includes non-hour increments for tracking global times. Inside, a custom ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement provides a 50-hour power reserve.
Comfort and Wearability
Engineered for everyday comfort, the watch is exceptionally lightweight due to its Grade 5 titanium construction. The flexible FKM rubber straps taper dramatically as they leave the case, contributing to what is described as the most comfortable Lebond release to date. The integrated design, which removes traditional lugs, was noted by Foster for making the watch more comfortable and more integrated. Norman Foster stated, "A watch is also intensely personal. It is something that travels with you and becomes part of everyday life."
Architectural Collaboration and Vision
The project is a partnership between Spanish brand Lebond, founder Asier Mateo, and the Norman Foster Foundation’s Innovation and Design Unit. Foster, the Pritzker Prize-winning architect behind landmarks like the Reichstag dome and Apple Park, applied his principle that scale does not change the nature of design. He proposed a watch that could move naturally between different situations, from a building site to a formal event, without feeling precious. The design reflects his interest in aviation and international travel, evident in the rotor and the practical second timezone bezel.
The Lebond Norman Foster watches are available to order through the brand's official website for €3,500, excluding taxes. The system's easy attachment mechanism allows the user to interchange elements, enabling personal versions for various professional and formal contexts.
