Fortis launches three luminous Novonaut Halo Editions
Fortis expands its Novonaut N-42 line with three Halo Editions featuring dials made entirely of Lumicast X1 for maximum glow, an upgraded Werk 17 TR movement, and cases of recycled steel.

Fortis has introduced three new versions of its Novonaut chronograph. The N-42 Halo Editions in black, blue, and green are now part of the brand's permanent collection, featuring what Fortis claims are its brightest-ever dials.
Case and build details
The 42mm case is constructed from recycled stainless steel with an entirely brushed finish. It is 15mm thick and 51mm in length. Water resistance is rated for 200 meters, aided by a screw-down crown with a triple-gasket system and reinforced FKM gaskets. The watch head alone weighs 115 grams. A colour-matched hybrid rubber and textile strap is secured by a screw-pin system and closed with a substantial steel pin buckle.
Movement and performance
Powering the watch is the updated Werk 17 TR movement, developed with La Joux-Perret. This column-wheel chronograph, based on the Valjoux 7750 architecture, now offers a 70-hour power reserve, increased from 60 hours. Enhancements include redesigned and reinforced bridges for greater shock resistance. The balance bridge is held by two points for stability, and a free-sprung variable inertia balance reduces sensitivity to shocks and positional changes. The movement also drives a day and date indicator on the dial's right side.
Luminosity and dial features
The defining feature is the dial, molded entirely from Lumicast X1, a ceramic component made of solid Super-LumiNova. Fortis said this is its watch with "the strongest luminosity ever." In daylight, the dial presents a pale white base with high-contrast, colour-matched sub-dials, Arabic numerals, and a countdown flange. The bi-directional bezel, called the 'Sirius Bezel,' is made entirely of scratch-resistant ceramic and is also fully luminous. All six hands are lumed, including a seconds hand with a luminous bull's-eye dot. In darkness, nearly the entire dial emits a distinctive blue glow, with the non-luminous sub-dials appearing as dark discs against the bright field.
Heritage and availability
The Novonaut collection, introduced in 2023, evolved from the B-42 Official Cosmonauts Chronograph. Fortis's space heritage dates to 1994 when its first watch flew to the MIR station. A second version for Roscosmos followed around 2004, though the brand no longer cooperates with the Russian space agency. The Novonaut N-42 Halo Editions are now permanently available.
