Rolex Unveils Perpetual Padellone with Annual Calendar
Rolex has launched the Perpetual Padellone, a 39 mm dress watch reviving the historic 'Padellone' nickname. It features an instantaneous annual calendar, a moonphase, and is available in Everose gold or platinum.
Rolex has officially unveiled the Perpetual Padellone watch. The timepiece marks a major expansion of the brand's modern Perpetual collection.
The new model draws direct inspiration from the historic reference 8171. That watch was nicknamed "Padellone" by collectors during its production run from the late 1940s to the 1950s.
Design and Dial Details
The watch is housed in a 39mm case that is 12.20mm thick. It features a dual-finished bezel, which is domed on top and fluted below. Caseback correctors allow for adjustment of the calendar functions.
The dial combines a grained central finish with a fine satin-finished outer ring. English day and month apertures sit at 12 o'clock. A blue-coated central hand points to the date on the periphery. At 6 o'clock, a blue enamelled moonphase disk features meteorite full and new moons.
Movement and Technical Innovation
Powering the watch is the newly developed in-house Calibre 7190. This automatic movement operates at a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour and offers a 66-hour power reserve. The calibre is protected by 30 patent applications.
It incorporates Rolex's silicon Dynapulse escapement, a thick-coiled Syloxi hairspring, and a high-tech ceramic balance staff for magnetic resistance. The annual calendar mechanism uses a newly patented system called Haplos. This system comprises just an additional carrier finger and an annual lever. It allows the watch to automatically distinguish between 30- and 31-day months, requiring correction only once a year when February ends. All three calendar indications jump simultaneously at midnight in a fraction of a second.
Configurations and Pricing
The Perpetual Padellone is offered in three distinct configurations. The retail prices range between $59,000 and $72,800. All versions carry Rolex's updated 2026 Superlative Chronometer certification, which includes new testing for magnetism, reliability, and sustainability. This certification yields an accuracy tolerance of -2/+2 seconds per day.

The platinum version uses a metal known for its extremely high corrosion resistance and high malleability. The gold models use 18-carat gold, an alloy where purity is measured in karats.
