Angelus has launched new limited-edition configurations of its Chronographe Tachymètre watch. The release includes a highly exclusive 18k yellow gold model limited to 15 pieces and two stainless steel versions limited to 30 and 50 pieces respectively.

Production is tightly capped, creating immediate scarcity. The yellow gold edition is the rarest of the trio. Its dial features a yellow-gold-tone finish with British racing-green accents. The two steel models offer distinct colourways: one with coral-pink and steel-grey, the other with petrol-blue subdials.

Pricing structure

The precious metal commands a significant premium over the steel versions. The pricing structure is clear and tiered.

Design and dial variations

The 37mm case retains the dimensions and brushed-and-polished finish of its predecessor, the Chronographe Télémètre. It is 9.25mm thick with a curved caseband. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment sits above the dial, which is protected to a water resistance of 30 meters.

Dial details vary by model. The gold version uses gold-toned applied Arabic numerals and markers. The steel models feature black rhodium-plated numerals. All versions use rhodium-plated syringe hands filled with Super-LumiNova. The central feature is a tachymeter scale calibrated to a base of 1,000, starting at 500 km/h.

Straps are colour-matched to each dial. The yellow-gold watch comes on a sage green calfskin strap. The steel models are paired with sepia grey or steel-blue leather straps, all fitted with matching pin buckles.

Movement and technical specifications

Powering the watch is the hand-wound A5000 calibre, produced for Angelus by La Joux-Perret. It is not chronometer certified. The movement operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and offers a 42-hour power reserve. Its architecture includes a column wheel and a horizontal clutch with an oscillating-pinion coupling.

The chronograph function uses a bi-register layout. A central seconds hand works with a 30-minute totalizer. Running seconds are displayed at the 9 o'clock position. Angelus said: "The new Chronographe Tachymètre takes the same basic idea to a field that feels especially natural for a chronograph."

The launch shows a strategy of measured exclusivity. Only 15 examples of the yellow gold Chronographe Tachymètre will be made.
