Samsung unveiled its 2027 Odyssey gaming monitor lineup at Gamescom, led by an upgraded 27-inch Odyssey G6 capable of a 1,100Hz refresh rate. The brand also introduced new OLED models including a 49-inch super ultra-wide display and a 42-inch curved screen.

The new 27-inch Odyssey G6 (G60H) marks a slight increase over a 1,040Hz prototype shown earlier this year. It achieves its maximum 1,100Hz output by dropping the resolution to FHD, while its native 1440p mode delivers 600Hz. This dual-mode IPS display features a 1ms response time and carries both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility.

Premium OLED Displays

Beyond the G6, Samsung introduced several premium OLED monitors. The 49-inch Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SJ) is built on a fifth-generation Penta Tandem QD-OLED panel. This hardware is up to 1.3 times more efficient than previous versions and doubles the display's overall lifespan. It runs at 360Hz at its native 5120 x 1440 resolution, or can use a dual-mode function to hit 720Hz at 2560 x 720. It has an RGB-stripe pixel layout for improved text clarity, a 0.03ms response time, and a peak brightness of 1,300 nits.

The 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SJ) features a unique triple mode system. Users can switch between UHD at 360Hz, QHD at 520Hz, and FHD at 680Hz depending on their performance needs. It features DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20, dual HDMI 2.1 slots, and a USB-C port with 98W of power delivery. The panel also has a VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification.

New Form Factors

Samsung claims the Odyssey OLED G7 (G75SJ) is the world's first 42-inch curved 16:9 OLED gaming monitor. It offers a 4K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate with an aggressive 1000R curvature. It incorporates a specialized Glare-Free film coating designed to reduce reflections by 54 percent compared to standard anti-reflective treatments.

The push past the 1,000Hz refresh rate barrier shows manufacturers view high speeds as a key feature for competitive gaming. According to Samsung, the Odyssey G6 is expected to launch globally by the end of 2026. Pricing for the full 2027 lineup was not revealed.
