Czapek launches 38-piece Promenade

Czapek has launched the Promenade Transparencies Aqua Blue, a limited edition of 38 pieces. The watch, which is available for pre-order now via the brand, features a smoked sapphire dial with a blue fumé gradient.

The timepiece builds on the design of the earlier Viridian Green model. Its central feature is a dial made from smoked sapphire crystal, engineered to reveal the fully skeletonized movement underneath.

Dial and case construction

Czapek creates the dial's blue fumé effect using a specialized metallization process. Microscopic metallic dots, each about eight microns in diameter, are applied to the underside of the sapphire disc. The density of these dots is varied, thinning towards the center and thickening at the edges. This provides a clear view of the mechanics while creating a more opaque perimeter.

The watch uses a 38mm stainless steel case that is 10.8mm thick. Instead of traditional applied indices, Czapek has fitted custom hour markers. These are solid blocks of light blue Super-LumiNova, hand-applied directly onto the sapphire crystal.

Movement and finishing

Powering the watch is the in-house, automatic Calibre SXH7. This skeletonized movement features seven openworked bridges, a design Czapek states pays homage to François Czapek's 19th-century pocket watches.

For a cleaner aesthetic on the dial side, the brand's watchmakers reversed the escapement. They also relocated the small seconds subdial to an off-center position at 4:30. The movement incorporates a micro-rotor machined from 100% recycled platinum. It showcases openworked ratchets, sandblasted bridges, and extensive hand-chamfered inward angles. Czapek emphasizes that this finishing is executed symmetrically on both sides of the movement.
