Jacob & Co. has launched a limited edition flying tourbillon minute repeater watch in 18k rose gold to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2026. The timepiece, a revival of a 2014 model, is restricted to just twelve pieces and carries a price of USD 390,000.

It features a 43mm 18k rose gold case with a broad polished bezel and lugs that recall the brand's Epic X collection. The dial is a translucent red mineral crystal, offering a view of the dial-side mechanics and rose gold details. A red alligator leather strap with a matching rose gold pin buckle completes the look. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters.

Movement and complications

Power comes from the hand-wound JCCM04 calibre, which replaces the original JCBM03 movement. This manufacture calibre, consisting of 308 components and operating at 21,600 beats per hour, provides a 90-hour power reserve. Its functions are hours, minutes, a flying tourbillon, and a minute repeater.

The 60-second flying tourbillon cage has been redesigned with hand-polished angles and fine edges. For the chiming function, cathedral gongs extend around the movement to produce a longer, richer sound. The hammers have been slightly adapted, and a modern, silent centrifugal governor has been integrated to eliminate background noise and reduce mechanical interference with the gong tones. Each gong is shaped, hardened, tuned, and fitted by hand, with final adjustments made by ear.

Technical details and wearability

The watch is 12.3mm tall and offers a view of the movement through a sapphire case back. The bridges visible through the back are decorated with Geneva stripes. The movement finishing includes Côtes de Genève decoration, hand-polished angles, and finely drawn edges.

Brand context and significance

This release honors the brand's evolution in sound-based horology. Jacob & Co. has a history of chiming watches, including the Opera in 2017, the Opera Godfather in 2019, the Twin Turbo Furious in 2018, and the Astronomia Maestro with its carillon minute repeater. The 2026 Godfather II is another recent addition. Founder Jacob Arabo described his creations as "strikingly expressive and absolutely like no others in terms of aesthetics and technicality."

The movement's development history involves several specialist firms. It was originally developed at BNB Concept, subsequently taken over by Pierre Favre’s MHC, which later joined Timeless within the Régence Group, where the calibre is now manufactured.

The watch is a limited edition of 12 pieces.
