Design and Craftsmanship

URWERK has unveiled the UR-1001 Amadeus, a one-of-a-kind titanium pocket watch that blends technical complexity with a baroque-inspired aesthetic. The case measures 106mm by 62mm and is 23mm thick. Every surface of the titanium case has been hand-engraved for over 500 hours by Bavarian master engraver Florian Güllert, producing arabesques and reliefs that blur the line between decoration and structure. The watch is named “Amadeus” in tribute to the extravagant spirit of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, according to co-founder Felix Baumgartner. The case is a sculptural piece that serves as both a timepiece and a museum-grade artwork. For more details, see our stats page.

The dial side displays URWERK’s signature satellite hours with retrograde minutes, an orbital annual calendar, and a hand-painted day/night disc. A power reserve indicator completes the front display. The reverse side extends the concept of time further, with an “Oil Change” service counter, a 100-year odometer, and a millennium indicator that advances so slowly it is virtually imperceptible. The caseback offers a long-term temporal perspective through these specialized indicators.

Timekeeping Features

The UR-1001 Amadeus is a “Zeit Device” that maps temporal flow rather than simply measuring it. It displays time, satellite calendar, service intervals, and a 1,000-year millennium indicator. The satellite hours and retrograde minutes provide a unique visual representation of time. The hand-painted day/night disc adds an artistic touch to the functional display. The “Oil Change” display tracks five-year service intervals, while the 100-year odometer and linear millennium indicator offer a long-term perspective on time.

Movement and Power

Beneath the architecture lies the Calibre UR-10.01, a 51-jewel movement that beats at 28,800 vph. The movement features a retrograde mechanism and a shock-absorbing safety system. It is powered by a unidirectional rotor and an automatic winding system. The movement’s design allows the watch to maintain accuracy while also serving as a demonstration of horological engineering.

Legacy and Availability

The URWERK UR-1001 Amadeus pocket watch is a one-off special project. It is intended less as an item of ownership than as custodianship across generations. For more information, head over to URWERK’s official website. The watch is a museum-grade masterpiece that serves as a testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation and artistry. The piece is available exclusively through the brand’s channels and is not listed for sale on third-party platforms. The watch’s unique status and intricate craftsmanship make it a coveted item for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

The watch was reported by Hypebeast, which highlighted the hand-engraved case, the complex timekeeping functions, and the 51-jewel movement as key features of the UR-1001 Amadeus.
